If you’re a marketing professional and you have your own crypto project laying around that can’t seem to break into the spotlight, this post is for you. We’ll cover strategies in marketing on a budget, some tips to make your project stand out from the rest, and much more. So read on if you want to learn how to market your crypto influence project without breaking the bank.
1. Marketing is super-important.
In order to be successful in crypto, you’re looking at a minimum of 3 or 4 years before your coin/token hits $1. So marketing is a vital part of following the game. This means that you need to be doing it non-stop. I’ve found that for the success of my own projects, all I have time for is social media and communication with buyers and influencers on Reddit, Twitter, Bitcointalk, etc. I don’t have time for much else. That’s not to say that you can’t do other things: if you’re going to market a project such as an ICO (initial coin offering), then I’d suggest spending a little more money. But even if you’re going to do an ICO, don’t spend a ton: just enough to market effectively. For starters, run a bounty campaign or two on Bitcointalk and Reddit. Do it before you’ve finished your ICO and are ready to release tokens.
2. Hire an agency
If you want to be taken seriously as a legitimate company, then it’s important that you look professional in your image and design. Your website has to look good! It needs to be simple and easy on the eyes with clear calls-to-action (CTAs) for anything that visitors can do on the site. Adding a logo to your site will look good and unprofessional. If you’re doing an ICO, then your website will have to be up on a domain name. For example, if you’re doing an ICO for a project called “CAKE”, then your website domain needs to be cake.com or caek.com.
You need at least 2 or 3 people working on promoting your project, including media outreach (guidelines below), PR team, social media outlets like Facebook, Google+, Twitter etc and the internal marketing team (admins). I suggest looking at programs such as Social Media Marketing Salaries or Social Media Marketing Jobs to find out what is currently going on in the industry and how much those programs cost per month. It will show you how much it will cost in the long run if you don’t have a team already working for you. These sites also give the potential salary ranges for the jobs offered. I’m going to offer some suggestions below, but these are only basic things that should be done for any crypto project in order to make them stand out from the crowd. Our site list is here.
3. Set up a PR/Media outreach campaign
In order to promote a crypto project, one of the most important things is to get outside help from reputable media outlets and PR agencies. The more articles your crypto project gets in the mainstream press, and the more people know about your coin or token, then the better it will be for you from a long term perspective. However, this will cost you a good chunk of change.
4. Create a website for your crypto project
Just about every crypto project needs some type of website. Whether it’s a simple landing page with just an email to contact you and sign up for updates, or if it’s more detailed, it’s still important that you have an online presence. A lot of people are going to want to learn more about your project and how they can invest in it by purchasing your tokens or coins. They need a place to go. This is where a good landing page comes in handy.
5. You need quality content
Content is king. If you want to get your site to rank well in the search engines for manual backlinks, you’re going to need excellent content on your page and on your site as a whole. You want interesting and quality content that people will want to read. Don’t spend all of this time writing content that no one is going to read or care about.
6. Set up social media accounts for your cryptocurrency project and brand
Social media is incredibly important for any project, especially if you’re marketing an ICO and trying to reach as many people as possible from different demographics around the world. Setting up accounts on all of the major social media platforms will help you establish a brand and build your audience. If you’re doing an ICO, make sure to connect your accounts to your website so that anyone visiting your site can also follow your project on social media.
7. Set up a channel for messaging on Telegram
People love Telegram channels. You can have an entire community set up of crypto enthusiasts who are in it for the long haul supporting you and holding you accountable if for some reason the project starts to flop. You should also use this channel to promote any events that you’re having like AMA’s or other opportunities for people to learn more about what it is that you are trying to accomplish with your project.
